Slave Memorial for Legacy Institute by Information Experts. Founded by Pastor Brett Fuller with the support of Ambassador George Haley and Jack Kemp, The Legacy Institute is a bipartisan, nonprofit organization primarily created to facilitate the establishment of The National Slave Memorial on the Mall in Washington, DC.
The Legacy Institute commissioned Information Experts to develop a comprehensive communications strategy for the initial rollout of the Slave Memorial initiative. IE crafted the messaging to solicit corporate funding, generate grass roots support, and lobby for congressional votes, and then developed a suite of integrated communications tools to reach and persuade these varied audiences. To be effective, these tools needed to dichotomously balance past with progress, logic with emotion, and a broad worldview with patriotism.
IE’s communications strategy and implementation provided the Legacy Institute with the integrated materials needed to pervade the country with a consistent and effective message. IE had the opportunity to flaunt its content and visual design through deliverables that included a logo, an executive presentation, an introductory document, the US Slave Memorial website, and print collateral.
The National Slave Memorial Act has successfully been introduced into the House of Representatives (bill HR 196) and has achieved national media recognition.
